Important: Advanced Math Legislation News Release

.Advanced Math Legislation requires that students in grades 6-12 who score a Level 5 on the EOG/EOC be placed in an advanced math class.  Students in grades 3-5 who score a Level 5 on the EOG should be provided advanced math learning opportunities through the Academically and Intellectually Gifted Program.   Since students do not have an EOG/EOC score for the 2019-20 school year, schools will use historical testing data and teacher recommendation to determine advanced math placement for students for the 2020-21 school year.   If your child is placed in advanced math, you will be notified by the school of this placement by August 1, 2020.

Parents/Students not identified for advanced math opportunities for the 2020-21 school year may contact their child’s Principal to discuss identification criteria and alternate placement tests that may be available to meet eligibility requirements (Appeals Deadline:  August 15, 2020).

UNC Board of Governors – Testing Waiver for Admissions

Due to the impact of COVID-19 on testing availability and the likelihood of additional cancellations, the UNC Board of Governors waived the standardized test requirement for first-year students applying for admission in Spring 2021, Summer 2021, and Fall 2021.

Students have the option to submit test scores to the 16 public universities in the UNC System, but test scores will not be required for admissions decisions. Students who do not submit an ACT or SAT test score must meet the minimum weighted GPA requirement of 2.5 to be considered for undergraduate admissions.
